When the Season Turns DarkThe days are shorter, the leaves are falling, and Halloween is just around the corner. This Thursday, October 29, the Iredell Arts Council is marking the season the best way we know how: with a night of haunting, humorous, and downright ghostly music.
Dark Turn of Mind: An Americana Celebration takes the stage at 7:30 PM at the Arts Council, 203 S. Meeting St. in downtown Statesville. Bring a friend, bring your sense of humor, and maybe bring a costume.
Meet the Musicians
This special evening comes to us from Asheville, where two beloved acts have joined forces for the occasion:
The Moon & You, featuring Melissa Hyman and Ryan Furstenburg
Hannah Kaminer, singer-songwriter
Ross Montsinger on drums
Together, they've built a one-of-a-kind set just for the spooky season.
A Trip Through the "Spooktrum"
Expect a mix of covers and originals from the darker side of American music, spanning folk, pop, country, and traditional ballads. The setlist draws on favorites by the Grateful Dead, Gillian Welch, Nina Simone, Bruce Springsteen, Dolly Parton, and more.
You'll also hear original songs written by band members Melissa Hyman, Hannah Kaminer, and Ryan Furstenburg. Come ready to be haunted, to laugh, and maybe even to cry (though probably from laughing).
