Well Crafted at IAC: Seth Kauffman & Evan Martin - 3/26/26
The Iredell Arts Council is excited to welcome audiences back to the historic Old County Jail for the next installment of our Well Crafted series—an intimate evening of music and conversation curated by Asheville pedal steel guitarist Matthew Smith.
Taking place Thursday, March 26 from 7:30–9:00 PM, this special performance brings together three musicians whose creative paths have been intertwined for more than two decades.
Set inside the Old Jail, Well Crafted offers something a little different from a traditional concert. These evenings are designed as a listening experience where music is paired with conversation, giving audiences a glimpse into the stories, friendships, and creative process behind the songs.
For this installment, Matthew Smith will be joined by Seth Kauffman and Evan Martin for an evening that blends performance with storytelling.
Seth Kauffman, best known as the creative force behind Floating Action has built a reputation for his soulful songwriting and genre-bending sound. Widely regarded as one of the most distinctive voices to emerge from the Asheville music scene, Kauffman’s inventive approach to songwriting and production has earned praise from critics and fellow musicians alike. Over the years, he has also shared the stage with artists such as Ray LaMontagne, Jim James, and Lana Del Rey, bringing his unique musical sensibility to audiences across the country.
Joining the stage is Evan Martin, an accomplished drummer known for his work with the Asheville Americana band Amanda Anne Platt & The Honeycutters. The group has toured internationally and performed at renowned festivals including MerleFest, AmericanaFest, and Mountain Stage.
Together, these musicians bring years of shared experience, friendship, and collaboration to the stage. Their chemistry creates a rare kind of performance one that feels less like a traditional show and more like sitting in on a conversation between great musicians.
Inside the intimate setting of the Old Jail, audiences can expect an evening filled with thoughtful songwriting, spontaneous moments, and the kind of musical connection that only develops after years of playing together.
