SEASONS CHANGE: SPOKEN WORD & POETRY SHOWCASE COMES TO STATESVILLE SEPTEMBER 3
Free evening of poetry, spoken word and live performance brings local artists together for an intimate showcase
STATESVILLE, NC — August 31, 2026 — The Iredell Arts Council will present Seasons Change: Spoken Word & Poetry Showcase on Thursday, September 3, at 7:30 p.m. at 203 South Meeting Street in Statesville.
The free showcase will feature an evening of poetry and spoken word performances from a diverse lineup of local and regional artists, including PRHYME, CraziiKi, Molly Freeze, Ibn, SideKick, Derick Lee, Dionne Hunter, Marlo The Poet, and The Radiant Poet.
Designed as an intimate evening celebrating the power of the spoken word, Seasons Change will give audiences an opportunity to experience original poetry and personal storytelling in a small, welcoming setting.

Admission to Seasons Change is free, but all attendees must RSVP in advance.

The event begins at 7:30 p.m. and will include two performance sets, a short intermission and an opportunity for guests and artists to mingle following the showcase.

Each featured artist will have a dedicated performance slot, with the evening showcasing a range of voices and approaches to poetry and spoken word.
The evening will be hosted by Derick Lee, a storyteller originally from Jacksonville, Florida, who has made North Carolina home. Lee is the author of the Stream of Consciousness series, which includes Hoodie Season Volumes I & II. Through his writing and creative work, Lee brings a distinctive voice and perspective to the evening’s celebration of spoken word and storytelling.
