Artist Matt Smith Launches New “Well-Crafted” Music Series featuring Amanda Anne Platt

Statesville, NC — The Iredell Arts Council (IAC) is proud to announce the launch of the Well-Crafted Music Series, a new five-part concert program curated and hosted by artist Matt Smith, kicking off Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 7:30–9:00 PM at the Iredell Arts Council’s historic Old Jail, located at 203 S. Meeting Street in downtown Statesville.

Smith, an Asheville-based pedal steel guitarist and touring musician, first performed at IAC in April 2025. The Well-Crafted series marks his return to Statesville—not just as a performer, but as a curator—reinvesting his time, talent, and professional music network back into the local arts community. Drawing on more than 20 years of touring and recording experience, Smith has designed the series to highlight meaningful musical relationships through both performance and conversation.

The inaugural concert features Amanda Anne Platt, an acclaimed Americana singer-songwriter and frontwoman of Amanda Anne Platt & The Honeycutters. Platt’s appearance sets a high bar for the series, bringing one of Western North Carolina’s most respected contemporary voices to the IAC stage.

Each Well-Crafted concert invites audiences into an intimate setting where music and storytelling intersect. Hosted inside the Old Jail, the series reflects IAC’s commitment to reenergizing the space through artist-led programming and positioning this community as a destination for high-quality cultural experiences that serve both artists and the community.
