Mary Fiorillo Art Show Opens January 7th
Statesville, NC — The Iredell Arts Council is pleased to present an exhibition featuring works by artist Mary Fiorillo, opening with a public reception on Wednesday January 7, from 5:30–7:00 PM at 203 S. Meeting Street, Statesville, NC 28677.
Originally from Ohio and now a longtime North Carolina resident, Fiorillo studied at the Columbus College of Art and Design, where she developed a deep interest in the challenge of conveying light through paint. Her work is especially focused on muted, melancholy, and subdued light an aesthetic that draws inspiration from UK painter George Shaw, known for elevating the ordinary into something quietly powerful.
Fiorillo’s paintings explore the beauty of the mundane moments that shape daily life. What some might overlook, she holds dear, finding poetry and meaning in stillness, familiarity, and subtle shifts in atmosphere. This body of work serves as a celebration of those intimate, often unnoticed moments.
The opening reception is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to enjoy downtown Statesville and take advantage of nearby public parking.
