Celebrating Film in Visual Art Exhibition Opens Wednesday
STATEVILLE, NC — August 24, 2026 — The Iredell Arts Council, Full Bloom Film Festival, and sponsored by Speedball Art invite the community to experience Celebrating Film in Visual Art, a juried exhibition exploring the connection between cinema and visual art.
The exhibition opens Wednesday, August 26, from 5:30–7:00 p.m. at the Iredell Arts Council, located at 203 S. Meeting Street in Statesville. The exhibition will remain on display through September 25 as part of the cultural programming surrounding the 11th Annual Full Bloom Film Festival.
The exhibition invited artists to interpret the world of film through their own creative lens. Works explore everything from memorable films and iconic characters to cinematic moods, unforgettable scenes, and the people behind the camera.
The theme was intentionally open to artistic interpretation, encouraging artists to celebrate the magic of cinema through a variety of visual media.
Awards
The juried exhibition will recognize artists with:
Best in Show: $250 cash + $150 Speedball product credit
Second Place: $150 cash + $100 Speedball product credit
Third Place: $100 cash + $50 Speedball product credit
Two Awards of Distinction: $100 Speedball product credit each
The exhibition is presented by the Iredell Arts Council, Full Bloom Film Festival, and Speedball Art and highlights the creative intersection of two powerful storytelling mediums.
“We wanted to give artists the opportunity to interpret film in whatever way inspires them,” said Sydney Koppelmeyer, Executive Director of the Iredell Arts Council. “The result is a really exciting collection of work that shows just how differently artists can experience and translate a film, a character, or a cinematic moment.”
The community is invited to attend the opening and experience the exhibition before Full Bloom Film Festival takes over downtown Statesville September 10–12.
